So I just bought a DSLR .. what now?

Many years ago I own a point and shoot digital camera and use it to take pictures of my family. What frustrated me the most is that the pictures will always turn out blurs esp night and indoor shots and most of my pictures got spoilt because of this. It's then I started to take photography little bit more serious. You know I thought to myself, when I am old (not that I am any younger), I will only have the pictures with me to remember all the good memory so I decided to invest my first prosumer camera (not DSLR yet) an Olympus 570 uz and later upgraded to a Nikon DSLR.

Your journey for beautiful photo has now moved to another level. From camera phone to Point and Shoot to DSLR..

When you purchase a DSLR camera, you are not just buying a camera. You are actually buying a system. The lens, the filters, the flashgun,  and so on. This is the cool  thing about DSLR. The are so many combination that suite different type of shooting condition. Once you decide on the brand you can start add on the additionals stuffs and if one fine day when you decided to change the camera instead of the changing the whole system, you can just change the camera body and use back all the same equipment.

So what's next...?

Go out there and take as many shots...!

but before you do that, here are some suggestion or tips on learning to use a DSLR Camera.

Read the user guide that comes with the camera. I find this is very useful and it will help you tremendously to be familiarise on what you new camera can do. PLEASE READ and Don't be lazy.

Get someone who know more than you do about DSLR. You will learn faster this way. I started picking up fast when I had a friend who is so into this. I 've learn a lot things from him in a short time.

Buy a monthly camera magazine. There are alot of cool tips and tricks that you can learn from these magazine and it only cost RM10. I would recommend two of my favorite, Digital SLR Photography and Digital Camera Malaysia. Get the local distributed copy as it cheaper compare of overseas copy. It is also good to get some books and guide lines on photography. Read as many stuffs and in no time you be an expert.

Youtube has a lot of stuffs on Photography. This is the best place to learn photography online.  So many cool videos. Just type Photography and wala..! Go and explore.

Finally, and yes NOW! you can go out and take as many shots you can. If wont cost you a cents. Just take and take, practice and experiment your shots and probably out of 100, there is one or two shots that stands out the rest and that shot is worth it.

KL Bird Park

The visit to KL Bird was surprising good (not to say in a negative manner) and we were thrill to see many species of birds. The park is well maintained cause probably it a hotspot for foreign tourist. My family really enjoy the day trip at the park.

Located in the heart of KL at Tasik Perdana (near the KL KTM Station), it is the largest free walk in aviary in the world. According to the write up it has around 3000 type of birds both local and foreign in 20.9 acres of land.

After getting the tickets which cost around RM25 for adult if you are local with mykad and foreigner will cost about RM48 and kids around RM12 and RM38 respectively. I think it too expensive for us local, should be less cheaper as encourages more local to visit these places and for the facts that we are Malaysian.

Anyway, the first sight that caught my camera is this beautiful looking bird.

As in walk in the aviary, you can see some of the birds are walking freely in and around the park. They are free to roam and visitor can actually touch which I don't encourage esp kids and they tend to poke if they are angry or agitated. Just be careful.

Here are some out the 3000 birds that I managed to capture with my camera. Even then, I don't think I have enough space for all the pictures in my SD card. Anyway enjoy the pictures.

Beautiful Peacock

Seagull

There a picture taking seesion with the birds

Beautiful walk thru waterfall

The finale of course is the amazing bird show. We all had a good laugh and amazed by the performance esp the Macaw.

FARM IN THE CITY - SERI KEMBANGAN

In was a labour day and my wife has managed to get a good deal from groupon.my to a visit to a local animal farm that I guess not many of us knew about. So we thought of taking our kids esp for Little Zachary. So off we go that morning.

Right after coming out from Puchong toll heading toward Kajang, we took a left turn on the first flyer over heading toward Sri Kembangan. The Animal Farm is just behind The Giant so take a right turn after the traffic light and you will not miss a big sign board.

We reach there about 11am and we really thank God the weather was very good as it was cloudy at that time. The entire walk in the farm tooks us about 3 hours to complete.

Here with my lovely family

Please don't compare this with a Zoo since this is just a petting Zoo which mainly cater for children. There are not many animal species (like lion, tiger, elephant and so forth). Most or in fact all animal here are harmless and I think children would be able to have an up, close and personal encounter which these cuddly animals. Zachary really enjoy it especially the horse riding.

Here are some of the Photos from the trips. Hope you guys enjoy the photos and find time to visit this place with your kids, nephew, nieces or anyone kids that you know. It is worth the visit.

and finally, please do leave some comments and if you have visited just left me know your thought about the place. Thank you and have a great day ahead.
